Theatre Collection, 1902-1982
Scope and Contents
The materials in this collection include theater programs from productions staged theaters from 1902 to 1982. The majority of the programs are from theaters in New York City from the 1920s to the late 1950s. Also included are programs from productions staged in theaters at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, the Smith Opera House (also known as the Schine Theater), Eastman and other theaters in the Rochester area, California, New England, New Jersey, Spain, France, Germany, and England.
In addition to the programs, the collection contains librettos, magazines and other publications related to the theatrical profession.
Some programs contain handwritten notes, a typed draft of what appears to be a review of a production from which the program originated, and published reviews clipped from newspapers and magazines.
