A collection of materials created to support several of the colleges' Self-Studies prepared for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It includes committee reports, surveys of faculty and students, departmental reports as well as miscellaneous items.
There are eight photograph albums in this collection on a variety of subjects including posed portraits, family and friends, and travel.
This collection contains informational student files created by the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Alumni and Alumnae Relations office. The files in this collection cover Geneva College, Hobart College, and William Smith College students who graduated between 1826 and 1930. Materials include newspaper clippings, articles, correspondence, information sheets, photographs, and some publications.
There are also a couple files on faculty and staff.
The Arch Merrill papers contain correspondence and papers related to Merrill's profession as journalist. It also contains photographs of both a professional and personal nature.
This record group contains records from the Art and Architecture Department. The majority of the materials relate to exhibitions held on campus. Materials include invitations, correspondence, posters, programs, and planning documents. The collection also includes information on portraits, artwork, sculptures, and other fine art owned by the Colleges.
The Athletics records—Associations and Awards record group contains documents from the Statesmen Athletic Association, the Heron Society, and other Hobart and William Smith Colleges athletics associations as well as materials related to awards that these and other groups have bestowed upon indivduals and teams.

The Board of Trustee records—Directories collection contains the directories and rosters of Board of Trustee members. Also included are ballots and other materials related to trustee elections.
The Board of Trustee records—Handbooks and By-laws collection contains the handbooks and by-laws for the board of trustees and the Colleges. Also included in this record group and charters with amendments and revisions.
The Board of Trustee records—Minutes and Committees record group contains the agenda, minutes, and other meeting materials of the Board of Trustees including the materials of Board of Trustees committees.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges has embarked on many capital campaigns throughout its history. The campaigns are typically designed to raise money for the endowment, for scholarships, and for specific building and renovation projects. This record group contains materials from the 1984, 1994, and 2006 capital campaigns.
A collection of 8 postcard albums from Ireland, Scotland, England, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, India, Penang, Singapore, China, Japan, France, Switzerland, Honolulu, and various places in the United States. Collected by Charles D. Vail during his travels from 1904-1905.
This is a small collection of undated photographs of campus scenes donated by Charles V. Adair and his wife Constance Dean Adair. The photographs are probably from 1944 when Charles Adair was editor of the Echo of the Seneca yearbook. There are photographs of football and lacrosse games, religious life, fraternities, campus houses, theatre, and general student life activities.
The Church family papers contain both personal and business correspondence, along with financial records, wills, newspaper clippings, and genealogical materials that span over a century.
Files in this record group contain biographical information on people associated with Hobart and William Smith Colleges including alumni/ae, faculty, administrators, guest speakers, and award recipients. There are also files on people of local significance.
Files 1-2 in this records group contain departmental records, memos, reports, and correspondence. Most of the material is on the subjects of staffing, course development, and department planning. File 3 includes programs for Faculty and Senior Choreographers Dance Concerts, 2000-2010.
This collection consists of the professional papers of David Bates Douglass. These papers encompass many of Douglass's professional activities, including professions as a soldier, engineer, professor, college president, and architect of cemeteries.
The materials in this collection were placed in the cornerstone of the Demarest Memorial Library in 1894. They were recovered in 1961 and donated to the archives.
Documents and photographs relating to the Durfee Family: Elizabeth Racao Durfee (Registrar and faculty member), Walter Hetherington Durfee (Dean, Provost, Acting President and faculty member), William Pitt Durfee (Dean, Acting President and faculty member), and Horton K. Durfee, Hobart class of 1949 and World War II Veteran.
This collection contains memorabilia from Edward A. Knight's time at Hobart College as a member of the Navy V-12 Unit, July 1944 - June 23, 1945. Files include a photograph album, slides, a copy of The Ridge from 1945, certificates, a commencement program, directory of students, and writings by Edward A. Knight. Also included in the album are photographs from the Hobart College Navy V-12 Fiftieth Anniversary in August, 1993.
