Hobart and William Smith Colleges has embarked on many capital campaigns throughout its history. The campaigns are typically designed to raise money for the endowment, for scholarships, and for specific building and renovation projects. This record group contains materials from the 1984, 1994, and 2006 capital campaigns.
The collection contains campaign and fundraising materials, pamphlets, donor lists, lists of committee and board members, recipient lists, and financial information. There are also newspaper clippings and photos related to the Geneva Scholarship Associates. The original Articles of Association, as well as some amended copies, are also included in the collection.
The materials in this collection primarily date from Howard Van Rensselaer Palmer's time at Hobart College (circa 1899-1902) and his fundraising activities in the 1920s and 1930s.
